BELOVED sitcom The Office could make a comeback as a film with Steve Carrell and John Krasinski returning as iconic characters Michael and Jim, one of the show’s big stars has teased.

Melora Hardin, famous as Jan Levinson on NBC’s The Office, has even discussed plot ideas with show executive Greg Daniels, who is overseeing a reboot.

Melora, who has enjoyed huge roles in USA Network’s Monk, and Amazon Prime Video’s Transparent, is hopeful that fans will get their dream of a comeback.

It’s 10 years since the NBC comedy ended, but it’s been a streaming hit worldwide ever since.

Insiders say that writer Greg, who remains close to the show’s stars, has discussed show options with Netflix and NBC brands.

Melora teased that follow-ups are being created by Greg, who she regularly talks to about potential plots.

Speaking about the reboot, she told The U.S. Sun: “That is up to Greg, because he is the maestro. I would certainly show up. I think a lot of us would.

“I don’t know about Steve – you can ask him – but I think he would. It would be super fun.

“But I think it’s going to have to be something special because otherwise why do it?

“We’ve already done an incredible series that people are watching and re-watching, and for generations. It’s just still living and very iconic…

“I think Greg probably feels like it has to be something that really excites him.”

Original show creator Ricky Gervais brought back his leading character David Brent in the UK version for a successful follow-up film.

The multi-talented singer, dancer and actress, 56, reckons the US version could do the same with Michael Scott back at Dunder Mifflin.

“I love that idea,” she said.

“I would love to make a film because then it would just be quick and we would do it.

“It would take three months, six months, whatever, get it done. And it would be so fun. I think we could bring everybody back for that.”

Melora has made her suggestions for how Dunder Mifflin’s paper company executive Jan and underling Michael could reunite after four seasons of drama.

Fans last saw Michael finally walk away from Jan, who had a daughter with a sperm donor, after she treated him badly.

Melora feels there is more potential screen magic for the pair, whose relationship was a high point for fans.

“I actually have talked to Greg about some ideas,” she said.

“I thought this would be funny if Jan was like a self-help guru because she was so kind of flawed. And at the end when you last saw her, she was sort of still pretty hard.

“And what if she’d just gone and had a major midlife crisis that made her completely transform and she’d learned how to become a coach. “Michael dealing with that would be hilarious.”

“I have so many people come up and say, ‘You’ve got me through my divorce, COVID and hard, hard times’.”

Melora still stays friend with her Office alum and “speaks to all of them”.

She admits fans too keep her excitement about the show alive, adding: “I feel just so thrilled when they see me. They give me hugs.

“I have so many people come up and say, ‘You’ve got me through my divorce, COVID and hard, hard times’. I am grateful to be on a show that brings that much joy to people.”

Hardin spoke at the Critics Choice Awards where Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie was nominated for best lead actor and TV film.

Melora added: “I love working on Monk and always loved playing Trudy.

“Tony Shalhoub is an excellent actor and wonderful person. We have a great time and it is a great movie…

“For it to be recognized by the critics it feels right.”

Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie streams on Peacock.
